| By offering a new instant haircut service, the 7-Eleven
store at Boon Lay Shopping Centre is no longer just another convenience
store. |
| |
| This 24-hour 10-minute hair cut service will be a
boon for individuals who lead a busy life and have only spare time
in the night. |
| |
| This new haircut service which charges $10 per hair
cut is a partnership between 7-Eleven and Speed. Speed expects 20
customers daily on weekdays, and peak at 50 customers daily on weekends. |
| |
| Mr Michael Yeo, Managing Director, Speed Cuts International,
says the company spent over $20,000 to convert 188 square-feet of
the 1200 square-feet 7-Eleven store into a Speed corner. |
| |
| Mr Benjamin Eng, General Manager, 7-Eleven Singapore
explains that the collaboration took place as both companies share
the same target market and service philosophy. |
| |
| "7-Eleven and Speed aims to provide convenience for
the busy individual. We are constantly innovating and seeking new
services for our customers," says Mr Eng. |
| |
| Mr Yeo also points out that while Speed has five other
outlets, the partnership with 7-Eleven will yield greater mutual benefits. |
| |
| The Speed corner which is separated from the 7-Eleven
store by a glass panel, can serve up to three customers at each time.
The service emphasises on speed and hygiene. |
| |
| Such instant haircut services emerged in Singapore
two years ago, with QB House being one major player. |
| |
| As many HDB dwellers tend to patronise 7-Eleven outlets
late in the night to use other 7-Eleven services, Mr Eng believes
that the 24-hour operation for the new hair cut service will be well-received. |
| |
| Both companies plan to provide round-the-clock hair
cut services at two more 7-Eleven stores by end of 2004. 7-Eleven
now has 206 stores islandwide. |
| |
| Commenting on the possibility of providing this instant
hair cut service at all 7-Eleven stores, Mr Eng explained that not
all stores are eligible, due to factors such as available store space
and level of human traffic. |
| |
| For the coming Chinese New Year, the 7-Eleven store
at Boon Lay Shopping Centre will give away a can of fruit juice and
two Mandarin oranges to every customer who comes for the hair cut.
Children cuts for free when they come for a hair cut with an adult.
This promotion will end on Chinese New Year Eve (21 January). |
